             DOCUMENTS NEEDED FOR ASSISTANCE AT FREE LEGAL CLINICS
*Please, you will need to bring proof of income and have a driver's license or state-issued ID in order to have documents notarized at the legal clinic*

            Divorce:
- Proof of joint property or debt 
- Child support/visitation/custody/guardianship orders currently in place 
- Paternity results if wife had a child during the marriage who does not belong to her husband 
- Marriage license (not required, but you do need to know the month, year, county and state of marriage and separation) 
- Copy of child(ren)'s birth certificate(s) 
For Divorces Based on Ground of Spouse Being Sentenced to Prison, you will also need:
- Copy of sentencing order (or printout from Mississippi Department of Corrections website with inmate profile) 
- Documentation of spouse's tentative release date (may be recorded on sentencing order) 
Adult Name Change:
- Copy of birth certificate of person who needs the name change 
- Correct spelling of name to be changed from and to 
- Any supporting documents which may reflect client's proposed new name 
Adoption or Minor Guardianship:
- Copy of child(ren)'s birth certificate(s) 
- Child support/visitation/custody/guardianship orders currently in place 
- DNA testing records about the child(ren) involved 
Emancipation:
- Copy of birth certificate of person who wants to be emancipated 
- Copy of documents supporting need for emancipation 
- Child support order 
- Copy of child(ren)'s birth certificate(s) 
- High school diploma of person who wants to be emancipated (if applicable) 
- College transcripts of person who wants to be emancipated (if applicable) 
Child Support Modification:
- Copy of child(ren)'s birth certificate(s) 
- Copy of current child support order 
- Child visitation/custody/guardianship orders in place 
- Any documents supporting modification 
- Copy of divorce order, including the property settlement agreement 
Child Custody:
- Copy of child(ren)'s birth certificate(s) 
- Copy of divorce order, including the property settlement agreement 
- Child support/visitation/custody/guardianship orders currently in place 
- Any documents supporting need for change in custody 
- DNA testing records about the child(ren) involved 
Domestic Abuse Protection Order:
- Domestic abuse protection orders currently in place 
Expungements (Felony or Misdemeanor):
- Record(s) of any previous expungement 
- A copy of your sentencing order and copies of any and all documents related to the incident you want to be expunged 
- Proof that terms of sentence have been completed/compiled with - obtain abstract from court to show that you have completed the terms 
- Can also obtain certificate showing that you have completed terms of probation
